Further Information:
Occurs mostly on flat, open flowers such as marigolds. At 5mm in length, it is one of the smaller bee-flies in the Maltese Islands. Staying mostly on Calendula sepceis, they are the prime pollinators of these plants including the important sub-endemic Calendula suffruticosa subsp. fulgida s.l.
